Board of Directors

  • James MacArthur - President

James has been connected to Otisco Valley for his entire life and has a deep love of the outdoors. He brings a background of working with individuals of all abilities, mental health counseling, owning an aquatic business, and local volunteerism to Amberations. Spending time with his family on Otisco Lake, hiking, traveling and of course visiting Joe are among his favorite activities.

James is committed to ensuring the continuation and sustainability of Amberations, Mission: To offer a place to connect with nature where exploration, contemplation, and community thrive.

  • Gloria Wiley - Vice President

Gloria Wiley’s vision for the plot of land that hosts Amberations is what led to its inception almost twenty years ago. She credits countless volunteers, family and community members with keeping it going and believes the new board has what is needed to determine a plan for continued sustainability. Hearing people describe the magic they have discovered at Amberations is one of her greatest joys.

  • Jamie Kane - Treasurer

Jamie is a mother of two boys (4 and 8). She resides on Onondaga Hill and is currently the Director of Operations for a SaaS/IT company based in Florida.

Jamie enjoys nature, traveling, and spending time with her family, and is very excited to take on this role and assist with the growth and expansion of Amberations.

  • Jessica Albanese - Secretary

Jessie grew up in East Syracuse, but spent her summers in Otisco at her family’s camp. In 2017 she and her husband put down roots in Otisco with their dog (named Tisco), and 3 years later welcomed their first child. This summer, her family will grow once again when they welcome their second son.

Jessie has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from SUNY Brockport and currently holds a position as the HR Benefits Manager for Community Bank Systems, Inc. With almost 14 years in Human Resources, Jessie enjoys working with and helping others and hopes to bring her experience and passion to her role with Amberations.

Amberations is a means for her family, and the community as a whole, to get back in touch with the outdoors. To slow down and enjoy the simple things in life.

  • Sue Magee - Board Member

Sue Magee is a lifelong resident of the Camillus area. She has been married to her husband, Rich, for 34 years and together they have raised 5 children. She has worked at a local hospital in the Syracuse area for the past 15 years. Sue has enjoyed giving back to her community and volunteering for events, as well as coaching her children’s many athletic activities. Her love of animals and the outdoors are what led her to volunteer as a feeder at Amberations. She loves traveling with her family and friends and spending time with her 4 (soon to be 5) beautiful grandchildren. Sue looks forward to many more years of volunteering and living out the mission of Amberations.

  • Anne Ferguson - Board Member

Anne and her husband moved to Otisco lake about 3.5 years ago, just a few months before their son, Lincoln, was born. Anne and Lincoln visited Amberations for the first time in the summer of 2020, and they fell in love with the beautiful land and lovely animals, especially Big Joe. Soon thereafter, Anne and Lincoln started volunteering to be animal feeders and have been loving volunteering and visiting ever since.

Anne is owner of Integrative Wellness: Acupuncture & Chiropractic, PLLC in Skaneateles, NY where she practices acupuncture, chiropractic and herbal medicine among many other things. She is passionate about helping others to heal and be well. The better you feel, the better you can be to yourself, others, our community, and our environment. She fervently believes that connection with nature is paramount to any health journey. She and her family are so grateful for all that Amberations offers and are excited to share it with others in the community and beyond.
